Guitar Chords

The basic guitar chords that most guitar players are C, G, A, D, Em, Am, C7, G7, A7, D7, etc. Once these beginner chords are learned, you can learn to what are called barre chords which are based on the basic open chords. Once you have these set of chords learned, you can start playing many songs and as you stumble upon a new chord, you can easily pick it up and add it to your chord vocabulary.

Some chords may be hard to reach with your hands initially. Keep practicing! There are also light gauged guitar strings that make it easier to press down with less force.

This is indeed one of the most common and difficult aspects for many beginners. Start with a simple and easy chord progression first, and then gradually move on to a little more challenging movement. Remember, your fingers and hands first need to get used to the movement of connecting chords, and it won’t just happen overnight! They need to repeat doing it over and over every day until it becomes second nature to them. Here are a few tips when practicing chord connections:

The best way to learn chords is to buy a book, sit down and practice, practice, practice! Once you start learning to play your first few chords, you'll find that it gets easier to learn the more complex chords.
